Safety First

Get Home Safe

Safety is not just a box we check—it drives how our business operates and is embedded in our culture.

Our people are our greatest asset, and they are much more than employees. The most important thing to Blue Ridge Power’s leadership is ensuring that every employee and subcontractor gets home safely to their families. To uphold this commitment, our SVP of Health & Safety reports directly to the COO for oversight of safety implementation.

To prevent construction hazards and ensure job site safety, everyone who enters a Blue Ridge Power project—from employees to subcontractors to local community members—must complete our company safety orientation before working or touring the site. All sites have dedicated Safety Managers, overseen by Director of Safety, who are responsible for implementing site-specific safety plans.

Getting feedback from the field is critical to the continuous improvement of our safety protocols. Per our Incident Management Policy, employees report incidents and near misses to BRP’s Safety team, who then conduct root cause analyses to prevent future incidents.

good catch program

With Good Catch, everyone at BRP has the opportunity—and the responsibility—to make our sites and offices safer, reduce our environmental impact and improve the quality of our work. When employees or subcontractors see a safety, environmental or quality issue, they are expected to pause their work, correct the situation before it leads to an incident, and report it as a Good Catch to notify our Safety, Environmental and Quality teams. This proactive approach prompts employees to stay alert and assess each situation for potential risks.
